In the apartment (85 Christopher Street) of Robert Cordier (center, talking with James Baldwin) guests gather to discuss ‘The Funeral Of The Beat Generation,’ New York, January 23, 1961.
I spent several years reading and
writing about the Beat Writers until, looking them over, I came to realize not
only were most of them self-centered and limited, but they also just weren’t
very good at what they professed to be. I think, I wonder if they weren’t
hyped up by English professors if the bulk of them would still be around at
all.
