Unda

Unda, Latin for "wave," is the root of undulant (As well as words such as abound, inundate, redound, surround) The verb undulate,  means "to form or move in waves." The meaning of undulant is now broad enough that it could describe things as disparate as a snake’s movement and a fever that waxes and wanes.
