The story is told in Washington
that one night, in the middle of the night, a patrolman found Russian President
Boris Yeltsin, in his underwear, staggering drunk down Connecticut Avenue not
from the Soviet Embassy. When federal and Russian agents arrived to
usher him back into the residence he refused to go, demanding to be let go so
he could grab a pizza.
The following night, Yeltsin, drunk
again, decided to go out for another midnight walk, dressed we assume. On his
way back into the official residence, he was stopped by a member of the US
Protective Service posted outside the embassy who mistook for Yeltsin for a
common street drunk.
