When fiction becomes fact: A cemetary in King’s County Washington.

No. No monsters. Not in that sense.  A child, bearing the surname Monster, was born in Washington state on October 23, 1888, and died about four months later on February 3, 1889. A photo of the child’s gravestone. Reading “Baby monster” was passed around the internet, but only after the top portion of the photo which showed the child’s father’s name “John C. Monster” was cropped out. The monster family was prominent in the region for many decades. This family happened to be of English ancestry, but the name probably derived from the Latin word Monasterium, meaning monastery.
