Pinocchio

Disney’s Pinocchio inspiration came from a much darker story in the original novel published in 1883 called The Adventures of Pinocchio, a novel for children by Italian author Carlo Collodi.

In the book form, a wood woodcarver creates wooden puppet he names Pinocchio. The puppet immediately begins verbally abusing his the wood maker and once his feet are made, he runs away. The wood maker runs after him and eventually catches him but is arrested by the police.

Pinocchio returns home. When his talking cricket back talks him he murders it with a hammer.

Pinocchio then befriends a fox and a cat who trick him into paying for an expensive dinner and then try to kill him in an attempt to steal some  money he earned. So he killed the cat and the fox.

After almost being used for firewood, he is saved at the last minute by a fairy with blue hair, when he lies to her, his nose grows.

Pinocchio eventually finds himself in the belly of a shark, where, f0r some reason, the wood maker lives. They are both saved by the blue haired fairy, who finally grants his wish of being a real boy.
