Absolutely wonderful: Babylon Berlin

Just when I start to think(Again) that Net flicks is a politically correct pile of junk, they introduce something brilliant like Babylon Berlin, a German neo-noir television series. (Based on novels by German author Volker Kutscher.)

This remarkably well written, well-acted and beautifully photographed series takes place in Berlin during the Weimar Republic, starting in 1929. It follows Gereon Rath, (Volker Bruch) a police inspector on assignment from Cologne who is on a secret mission to dismantle an extortion ring, and Charlotte Ritter, (Liv Lisa Fries) police clerk by day, flapper by night, who is aspiring to become a police inspector.

Actor Peter Kurth is wonderful, I’ll use the word brilliant again, actor who portrays  Detective Chief Inspector Bruno Wolter, a Berlin Police investigator, Kurth is so good at his craft, he had me cheering on the bad guy.  Matthias Brandt is splendid as Councillor August Benda, a Jewish Social Democrat and the head of the Berlin Political Police.
I can't recommend this series enough.
